HoxCast wants to bring scientific information to the ears of everyone. Every episode will introduce concepts and ideas of Evolutionary Developmental Biology (Evo-Devo) through published literature. By braking topics down to simple terms HoxCast hopes to be digestible and informative for any and all listeners. The field of Evo-Devo is relatively young, but it has been growing quickly. Over this short time, it has impacted the Modern Synthesis significantly and only shows signs answering more deeply questions like how development shapes evolution and how developmental mechanisms (homeotic genes, maternal factors, etc.) result in phenotype. Evo-Devo provides many amazing discoveries about the history of life. After listening we hope that you’ll understand and appreciate these discoveries and their implications. The gap between current established scientific ideas and public understanding always has need to be shortened!
